Yes, we are still alive. Yes, I've been busy. Yes, I have a ton of updating to do. Yes, I will post pictures of. . .everything. No, it will not be tonight. Three days ago I finished my last obligation for the entire summer! It was a very crazy 6 weeks and I have just been breathing the last few days. I have often thought "I need to post", but nothing really came to mind. . .until tonight:) Brey had just arrived home from work and they were out on the back deck while I finished preparing dinner. I heard him talking to her about a deer that was less than 50 feet away. "He's called a buck. He has velvet on his antlers. Oh, he only has one antler. . .", which was immediately followed by her putting one hand with all five fingers straight out on top of her head and replying "it's o.k., Daddy. . .we can give him one of ours from downstairs!" She was so serious and we were so entertained:) What a sweet soul. Good or bad (we shall see), Gracie always wants everyone to be "o.k.". If someone gets hurt, she will run and get a stuffed animal to make them feel better. So, as much as I worry she will be a "people pleaser", I am quickly reminded that this kid can stand up for herself. Now all we have to do is find the balance.
One more quick funny from tonight. . .after dinner they were messing around in the kitchen, Brey said to her "I'm the best daddy you'll ever have." She looked at him square in the eyes, put her hand on her hip and said. . ."DUH!" Oh it was priceless. . .full tone, full "tude". Remember a moment ago when I mentioned "balance"? Wish me luck. . .
